Our Diwali Day

Recently Year 3 held Diwali Day as we have been working on Hinduism during our RE sessions. Diwali was on the 17th October so we celebrated it on the 16th October.

Here are some pictures and comments from some of the children:

We made real Diwa lamps and lit them at the end of the day and made a wish.

Some of us children made a traditional indian drink called Mango Lassi majority of us liked it.

We made a cookie each and we ate it when we went home.

Some of us drew some symmetrical patterns and these patterns are called Rangoli.

We made Rocky Roads because during Diwali they eat and share sweets.

We did some dances on the patio with dancing sticks.
We dressed up in some traditional clothes called Sarees.

We coloured in some of our own Diwali lamps and wrote hopes for the new year on the back of them.

"My mummy made some traditional Indian sweets to try and enjoy." Aaliyah

"We drew round our hands on a sweetie bag and we drew Mendehi patterns." Callum.
"I liked doing the cards because you had to write to your family kind things." Raphael.
"I enjoyed the patterns on the paito, you had to dots and squiggly lines." Lucy.
"I liked dancing with sticks because I liked the music and kept the beat of the music with the sticks." Tosin.
"I liked dancing and eating cupcakes. They had sweets and chocolate in them. Yum." Anisah.

Year 3's KMJ Sandwich company!

Year 3 wanted to make some money to buy new puzzles to have in the class. In order to do this they decided to make and sell healthy sandwiches. So they set up a business called KMJ. This business and enterprise was linked into our DT, Art, Literacy, Numeracy and Science topics.

To make this business successful we split the two classes into different teams: Advertising, Delivering, Production and Surveying. We were given a budget of £20 to buy any resources or materials to make KMJ successful.

KMJ's business lasted for 2 weeks. One week was used for research and planning and the second week was used to make, sell, deliver and evaluate.

We raised £80, in which £40 of it was profit!!!!!
